• We do not store user content, search data, or usage history
• We do not track IP addresses, email addresses, or any device identifiers

The only data accessed by Lexi is selected text on web pages, which is used purely for local summarization.

3. How We Use Your Data

The selected text is processed locally within your browser using browser APIs such as scripting and sidePanel. It is never sent to external servers unless explicitly connected to an AI model by your configuration.

4. Permissions Explanation

Lexi uses the following Chrome extension permissions:

• activeTab – to access the tab where the user is interacting
• scripting – to retrieve selected content via scripts
• sidePanel – to display results in a side panel
• storage – to save local user preferences like theme or history

All permissions are used only for UX improvements and never for data collection.

5. Data Storage and Security

Lexi does not store or transmit data to any backend server. Any user preferences saved (e.g., dark mode, default behavior) are stored using Chrome’s storage.local API.

6. Third-Party Services

Lexi may optionally connect to summarization APIs (e.g., OpenAI or Gemini), but only when the user explicitly initiates it. All prompts and responses are transient and never stored by Lexi.
